Special Zelluloid42: Wakaliwood Tour 2026 — VJ Emmy Live

Zelluloid 42 brings VJ Emmy to Berlin, one of Uganda's most legendary voices and one of the last true Video Jokers. VJing is a storytelling form rooted deep in East Africa: translating and remixing films for local audiences, live and in real time. Mic in hand beside the screen, Emmy takes command, part oral historian, part stand-up prophet to spice things up so hard. A crazy live performance that made Wakaliwood a worldwide phenomenon far beyond Uganda. His appearances in Europe are just about nonexistent, so we couldn't be happier that he's landing with us.

The night opens with FORGET THE DIRECTOR, THIS IS EMMY'S CUT! (Marion Desmaret, 2026, OV), fresh from its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026. An experimental documentary that dives deep into Emmy‘s world and celebrates storytelling as resistance, a culture reclaiming and reshaping the Western narrative.

Then the main feature: EATEN ALIVE IN UGANDA (Nabwana IGG, 2026, 55 min, OV with live VJ), the latest burst of madness from Nabwana IGG and Ramon Film Productions, the no-budget studio that's been firing self-made action-splatter films out of Wakaliga, a suburb of Kampala, and straight into the world's living rooms for years. Expect handmade effects, helicopters built from scrap, absurd brutality, and pure joy. Waaka!
