------------------------------------\nIn June 2023\, marcel served up a ch
arivari of chaos and upheaval\, an incoherent\nand bestial celebration of
life.\n\nIt was good\, but too broad.\n\nWhile the Belgian group has not m
anaged to produce the famous album 'de la\nmaturité' (of maturity)\, they
instead persist in building a bridge between the\nsublime and the ridiculo
us. A formula that seems to work\, as their first album\ntraveled as far a
s the specialised Belgian\, Dutch\, French and Italian magazines\,\nas wel
l as the seasoned ears of indie gurus Steve Lamacq (BBC) and Kevin Cole\n(
KEXP).\n'ô fornaiz' is their second album entirely produced and mixed by B
en Hampson\n(DITZ\, Lambrini Girls\, etc.).\n\nStaged in its most abstract
	 form ('basho basho basho')\, concrete\n('innersummer')\, psychological ('
spirit of eden hazard kicking ball boy') and\npoetic ('sulf')\, fire sprea
ds through each of the 11 songs of 'ô fornaiz'. A\ntitle that expresses bo
th the terror and sacred awe that fire inspires in\nmankind\, ancient as w
ell as modern.\n\n'ô fornaiz' was born as a dense\, incoherent musical wor
k\, like the first fires\ntamed by earthlings\, who assimilated them into
an element that is both\ndestructive and purifying.\nThe result here is mu
sic that can be broadly categorised as 'garage-noise-punk':\nthe punk base
is enriched with forms and sounds from classical music ('allegro\nbarbaro
')\, jungle ('st glin glin')\, dub ('manu militari') or psychedelia\n('sul
	f').\n\nThe influences are wide-ranging\, old\, smoky\, and fiery\, like t
he hearth on which\nmarcel has placed his cooking pot these last two years
	: The Ex\, Nina Hagen\, This\nHeat\, Catherine Ringer\, Jacques Dutronc\,
	Blacklisters\, Arno\, Jesus Lizard\, Can\,\nNico\, Nino Ferrer\, Kim Gordo
	n\, Amon Tobin\, Swans\, Béla Bartók\, Kurt Weill\,\nYolande Moreau\, Happ
y Mondays\, and even the latest Talk Talk albums.\n
