cal project born out of a\nclose friendship\, the band are now making thei
r mark as newcomers. Their English\nlyrics are carried by a soundscape tha
t can be categorised somewhere between\nindie rock\, post-punk and whateve
r else you might like to call it. Melodic\nbasslines\, dreamy guitars\, fl
oaty synths\, and driving drums weave together to\ncreate a sound that is
both raw and atmospheric. Their debut EP is in the\npipeline and is alread
y being unleashed on live audiences.\n\n—\n\nIf you take a look around DOG
DAZE’s bedroom studio\, your eyes will immediately\nbe drawn to faded reco
rd covers\, sparkling disco balls\, and analogue photos from\nback in the
day. It’s almost unnecessary to mention that The Cure\, New Order\, or\nMy
Bloody Valentine are playing on a loop in the background. And yet\,\nthan
	kfully\, this post-punk/shoegaze/whatever band can’t be reduced to the\net
ernally annoying phrase ‘Everything was better back then’. Following their
\nself-titled debut EP – which saw the four Berlin-based musicians immedia
tely\nbecome Radar Act on FluxFM and play sold-out shows on the capital’s\
nunder-underground stages – the ‘Hypnosis’ EP breaks new ground. Whirling
stereo\nguitars\, uncompromising rhythms and\, vocal melodies that are alm
ost ghostly yet\ncatchy underline the band’s love of experimentation. This
is music that remains\ncompletely undeterred by the streaming algorithms
of our time and prefers to\nlook ahead into the neon light of the past.
